ISLAND Arts Centre Hosts Milestone Exhibition to Celebrate Lagan Valley Patchwork Guild’s 40th Anniversary

ISLAND Arts Centre was delighted to welcome the Mayor of Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council, Councillor Brian Higginson, and Leisure and Community Wellbeing Chair, Councillor Sharon Lowry, to officially open the Lagan Valley Patchwork Guild exhibition last week.

This special exhibition marks the Guild’s 40th anniversary and features more than 80 patchworks, embroideries, and textile artworks.

Mayor Higginson said, “In the 25th year of ISLAND Arts Centre, it is fitting that the Guild celebrates its own milestone anniversary alongside us. It is a joy to see how the Lagan Valley Patchwork Guild has grown through the support of Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council’s Arts Grants Scheme. Now with more than 40 members, including several founding members, the Guild continues to thrive, and the impressive array of work on display across both galleries is inspiring.”

Councillor Lowry added, “We are fortunate to have such a thriving cultural venue at the heart of our community, enabling groups such as the Lagan Valley Patchwork Guild to showcase their work and share their creativity with audiences from the Council area and beyond.”

The exhibition continues until 12 September in Galleries 1 and 2, ISLAND Arts Centre.
