Artist Bio and Statement

Betty Christie works mainly in watercolour, and also pastel, mixed media and, more recently, egg tempera.

She spent her childhood in the countryside, and her work is still influenced by the rural landscape, the coast, her grandparents' farm, and her parents' cottage garden.

Her subject matter is almost always of some aspect or element of nature..... natural forms such as feathers, pebbles and shells, wildflowers, garden birds, animals, mountains, fields, etc.

Recently, she has been painting portraits in egg tempera, and had one selected for the annual RUA exhibition, 2019-20.

She is a member of the Watercolour Society of Ireland, the Irish Society of Botanical Artists, the Pastel Society of Ireland, and the Dublin Painting and Sketching Club.

Her work is held in the collections of Enterprise Ireland, Limerick University, The Watercolour Society of Ireland, Lisburn and Castlereagh Borough Council, and Dundonald Hospital, as well as in many private collections.
