James Allen is a painter and printmaker based in Belfast. He studied at Belfast College of Art and Brighton College of Art. In 1977 he was awarded an Arts Council Fellowship to organise and run Belfast Printworkshop where he was Director from 1980 - 2002. He has exhibited in many group and one person exhibitions in Ireland and abroad and has work in private and public collections including the Arts Council of England, Intel Dublin, OPW Dublin, Ulster Museum, An Chomhairle Ealaion, Dublin and Telfair Museum, Savannah, USA.
