Stiched Memories

Textile artists Helen and Sharon share a deep passion for embroidered textiles. This exhibition sees their practices converge to reflect on the adaptive nature of stitch, and how it endures as a medium to convey narratives in an ever-changing world. Sharon and Helen use hand embroidery processes that have been passed through generations to explore themes of absence, identity, belonging, memory, and connectedness. For both, the footprint is a recurring motif used to reference life’s journeys.

Their skilful artworks reference the importance of ‘making’ and celebrate the experimental and challenging nature of embroidery.
