‘Our Story in the Making: NI Beyond 100’ Expressed by Iconic Art Piece Designed with Lisburn Castlereagh Youth Council
September 21, 2021
ISLAND Arts offers a range of opportunities for children and young people to get involved in creative activities. This includes meeting inspiring artists and practitioners to learn from and share ideas with.
Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council has been awarded a grant from the Northern Ireland Office as part of its ‘Our Story in the Making: Northern Ireland Beyond 100 Centenary Programme.’ The council’s arts service, ISLAND Arts has used the grant to appoint professional artists to work alongside Lisburn Castlereagh Youth Council to create a bespoke public artwork to portray 100 years of the local area.
ISLAND Arts is delighted to be collaborating with our young people from the Youth Council who are working with artists from Anann’s Arch to ensure any final artwork incorporates as many themes, symbols and ideas inspired by the young people so that the community as a whole is represented.
The artwork will form part of the Xplorart Sculpture Trail within the public realm of Lagan Valley Island.
