Just launched! September to December Season Programme
August 29, 2024
Following on from our hugely successful Children’s Summer Arts Festival and August Craft Month, we are delighted to launch our September to December Season Programme.
As always, there is something for everyone - from live comedy featuring the immensely popular Micky Bartlett, Emer Maguire and Tim McGarry. There is a return of our very own music shows and audience favourite, Vinyl ISLAND alongside a stunning collection of exhibitions showcasing Contemporary Art of Northern Ireland, Katherine St. Angelo, Susan Robinson and Four Sisters and Friends.
Art workshops and courses feature in abundance for adults, children, teens, and families. Exciting new additions include Silversmithing, Potstickers & Gyoza Dumplings, Pastel Painting, Chamber Babies concerts in partnership with the Belfast Music Society, Pottery for Teens and Family Bread Making. ISLAND Youth Theatre is also back, nurturing the skills for dramatic arts with our young people by industry professionals.
Our spectacular Twilight Nights in Wallace Park returns as two events. There will be a relaxed evening on Wed 23 Oct, for those of us who are sensitive to noise, bright lights, and crowds. Then on Thurs 24 Oct our Community Arts Lantern Parade, led by famous drumming sensation SPARK! will lead crowds to our fireworks and laser show finale. Tickets will be available to buy online from Thurs 3 Oct at 1pm. Please note t this event is postcode restricted for residents of the Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council area only.
Chair of Communities and Wellbeing, Councillor Jonathan Craig said “I am delighted to announce the launch of the new season at ISLAND Arts Centre. There is a fantastic range of events and activities available to all the community. It’s an exciting season ahead and I encourage everyone to have a look at what’s on offer, and maybe sign up to learn a new skill or pop down to see an exhibition. With a wide range of live shows to choose from, think of ISLAND Arts Centre when planning your next night out.”
Why not start your Christmas shopping early at our new ISLAND Arts Retail space. Here you will find individual, handmade pieces, including jewellery, pottery, glass, greetings cards and prints, all made by local, independent artisans.
