We are delighted to announce the launch of our ISLAND Community Film Hub!

August 27, 2024

Building on the popularity of the monthly Silver Screen Socials, ISLAND Arts Centre is delighted to bring a new initiative to its Big Screen, titled ISLAND Community Film Club (ICFC). This fantastic new opportunity to showcase local short films, guest speakers, international and local feature films and a Q & A session. Bringing together industry professionals, film makers and film lovers.

Communities and Wellbeing (Vice-Chair), Alderman Hazel Legge joined Film and TV Director, Joe McStravick, to launch ISLAND Community Film Club (ICFC).

“I am delighted to join Joe to launch ISLAND Community Film Club. There has been great support for this project from Film Hub NI, NI Screen and local film crew. Together this will benefit all of our budding film makers from SERC and from across the whole council area by providing access to learning and contacts in this ever-growing industry in Northern Ireland.”

This monthly event starts on Monday 9th September 2024 with a focus on ‘character Driven’ stories and featuring ‘Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri’. Join us on this wonderful occassion as special guests Shelly Lowry of Belfast Talent Agency, Dean Conway; a Lurgan based filmmaker whose short was featured in BFI feature film Festival 2024 and MC Joe McStravick, Lisburn based film maker/director sit on the Q&A panel.

Booking is essential and costs £3 either in-person at Island Arts Centre’s Box Office or online at www.ISLAND ArtsCentre.com.

A huge thank you to Film Hub NI and the BFI Film Audience Network for awarding funds from the National Lottery in order to bring this project to more audiences across the UK.
